WINE TOUR BY HELICOPTER

WINE TOUR BY HELICOPTER

The Bordeaux wine region is the largest in the world with more than 5500 châteaux. In fact, it covers an area larger than all the New World wine regions put together. To drive from East to West can easily take 3 hours.

Ever aware of distance and travel time for our busy clients, sometimes the best way to get around is by helicopter; this trip was just over 20 minutes instead of nearly 2 hours. We are also very conscious of the planet and are keen to steward the Earth & its resources wisely.

It is good to know the abundant landscape below of trees, crops and natural vegetation truly appreciate the carbon dioxide, as that is what they breathe.

PERFECT CORPORATE GETAWAY

PERFECT CORPORATE GETAWAY

When a global organisation powered by a strong business engine and with a long humantarian reach wanted to gather their key executives together, they chose Château Living to provide the venue and to create the environment to make that happen.
Bordeaux, France proved to be the most open and accessible location when the rest of the world was locked down. Delegates from the Middle East, USA, Europe & Africa met together in peace and tranquility at a superbly renovated and furnished château among the vines.
Valuable times spent reviewing, discussing and brain-storming were punctuated with wonderful interludes of food, wine and adventure. Not only was the château a sanctuary in the morning and evenings, but afternoon excursions and wine tours made for vital refreshing team strengthening experiences all-around.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!

Château Living were pleased to host a group of 25 friends who came together from across Europe and the Middle East in Bordeaux for a very special birthday celebration.

They stayed together in luxury chateau accommodation Bordeaux provided by Château Living where they enjoyed Michelin* dining, two swimming pools, private dinner parties, pilates among the vines for the ladies and a table tennis competition for the gents.

Château Living arranged everything from ‘Bonjour’ to ‘Au Revoir’ during their long weekend together; airport transfers, luxury suites, fabulous meals and lots of wine for an altogether extraordinary experience in Bordeaux.

Here are some glimpses of this very special day.

Exploring Saint-Émilion with Chateau Living

To make the most of their short time away together, Château Living arranged the ultimate experience in Bordeaux! A day-out to top all others. Beginning in Saint-Émilion with a walking tour exploring this incredible medieval village, where wine has been produced for 2000 years. Making their way through the cobbled alleys, wine boutiques and stunning historic streets and incredible architecture the friends were met by horses and carriages to take them to the vineyards and châteaux for their wine tours.

HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE

Picture perfect with clear blue skies, stunning honey limestone architecture surrounded by verdant green vines – what an incredible sight from the back of a horse drawn carriage! Beneath Château Beausejour Bécot the group explored the labyrinth of quarried galleries where the stone to build châteaux, villages and Bordeaux was sourced below the vineyards. These underground galleries extend to up to 200km below Saint-Émilion. In past times the sale of stone contributed as much to the wealth of these châteaux as the vines & wine production.

A helicopter to paradise

After a lunch at the splendid Red Terrace restaurant next stop was Château Soutard for a second wine tasting. From there the friends were whisked off by 3 helicopters to the magical Point of Cap Ferret at the mouth of the fabulous Bay of Arcachon. The group felt like they’d landed in paradise as they boarded 3 chalands to cruise to the delicious oyster, seafood & white wine tasting at the oysterman’s wood cabin at Le Canon.

THE SUN SETS ON A PERFECT DAY

To catch the sunset, high speed semi-rigid boats took the guests from the shoreline back across the Bay to the beach at the Dune de Pyla – Europe’s highest and most spectacular. There each couple was given a delicious picnic and bottle of crémant to enjoy together on top of the dune as the sun set.

What an extraordinary day!

A FEW DAYS ON CAP FERRET

A FEW DAYS ON CAP FERRET

Most of our châteaux are only 1h15 from the Bay of Arcachon, with the delightful Cap Ferret only a short ferry ride across the bay.

Towards the end of the summer we took a few days out to enjoy this wonderful place. There is something for everyone – choose between Atlantic rollers and surfing to the West or the calm waters and tidal changes of the Bay to the East.

Everything is within easy reach and is delightfully relaxed. One highlight was dashing on our bikes after dinner through the pine forests to see the sunset over the Atlantic.
