AN EXTRAORDINARY DAY!

Château Living were pleased to host a group of 25 friends who came together from across Europe and the Middle East in Bordeaux for a very special birthday celebration.

 
Château Living arranged everything from ‘Bonjour’ to ‘Au Revoir’ during their long weekend together; airport transfers, luxury châteaux accommodation, Michelin* dining and lots of wine for an altogether extraordinary travel experience in Bordeaux. To make the most of their short time away together, Château Living arranged the ultimate experience in Bordeaux! A day-out to top all others. Beginning in Saint-Émilion with a walking tour exploring this incredible medieval village, where wine has been produced for 2000 years. Making their way through the cobbled alleys, wine boutiques and stunning historic streets and incredible architecture the friends were met by horses and carriages to take them to the vineyards and châteaux for their wine tours. Beneath Château Beausejour Bécot the group explored the labyrinth of quarried galleries where the stone to build châteaux, village and Bordeaux was sourced below the vineyards. These underground galleries extend to up to 200km below Saint-Émilion. After a lunch at the splendid Red Terrace restaurant next stop was Château Soutard for a second wine tasting. From there the friends were whisked off by 3 helicopters to the magical Point of Cap Ferret at the mouth of the fabulous Bay of Arcachon. The group felt like they’d landed in paradise as they boarded 3 chalands to cruise up to the delicious oyster, seafood & white wine tasting at the oysterman’s wood cabin at Le Canon. To catch the sunset, high speed semi-rigid boats took the guests from the shoreline back across the Bay to the beach at the Dune de Pyla – Europe’s highest sand dune and most spectacular. There each couple was given a delicious picnic and bottle of crémant to enjoy together on top of the dune as the sun set.

Hot Air Ballooning

There is no better way to see the châteaux, vineyards and villages of the beautiful Bordeaux region. Drift effortlessly and silently across the idyllic landscape. Like most of our amazing travel experiences, this includes a fabulous picnic of local seasonal produce. This includes sumptuous cakes and ripe fruits, all washed down with a select local wine and a glass or two of bubbly.

Cycling Tours

Enjoy a gentle cycle ride amongst the vines and forests on your way to a private wine tasting at a local château. Follow up with a beautifully prepared luncheon on the terrace or a delicious artisan picnic in the shade of the vines. Rest and relax before the ride back to your accommodation. Maybe take the long return route for more delightful views of the Bordeaux countryside.

HORSE RIDING

For riders of all abilities, this is the perfect and relaxed way to explore the Bordeaux landscape. After being introduced to your equine friend, mount up for a guided tour along the quiet lanes and winding tracks between the vines. Take in a wine-tasting at a château en route, then enjoy a delightful picnic of fresh meats, cheeses, fruit and cakes whilst your mount takes a well-earned rest. Ride home as the sun gently sinks below the horizon for an exquisitely prepared gourmet meal before falling into bed after one of the most memorable travel experiences at the end of another perfect Château Living day.

WINE TOURS

Your tour will be hosted by an English-speaking wine expert who will collect you from your château for a fascinating chauffeur driven tour taking in a selection of the finest wine-producing châteaux in the region. Meet the Vigneron and their skilled team who will demonstrate their particular wine-making process, before tasting a number of the château’s offerings. In between châteaux, enjoy a fabulous food and wine pairing at a local Michelin-starred restaurant for lunch, or explore the fascinating underground limestone caves used in wine production.

TRUFFLE HUNTING

This winter special is an utterly unique and one of the most amazing travel experiences, as well as a real treat! Join the truffle-hunting experts to root out the black gold buried in the Dordogne forests, returning for a demonstration on how this rare and valuable delight is prepared and cooked. Taste for yourself why black truffles are such a sought after luxury!
